Richard Mathieson – Artist Biography and Artworks Available for Sale

Richard Mathieson studied sculpture in Auckland at Elam School of Fine Arts under Greer Twiss and Christine Hellyar (1980-85). Over the last twenty years he has exhibited widely in New Zealand dealer and public galleries; and has undertaken a number of large-scale commissions for public spaces in Auckland, including Auckland Botanic Gardens, Orewa College and the Brick Bay Sculpture Trail. In 1999 he became a member of the Medal Artists New Zealand (MANZ) group, working alongside others such as Betty Beadle and Terry Stringer. Mathieson has been instrumental in organising the biannual Sculpture in the Botanic Gardens, curating the selection for the last few years.  He also operates an art installation business.
