Jan Nigro – Artist Biography and Artworks Available to Buy

One of New Zealand’s most preeminent artists, Jan Nigro moved to Auckland in 1936, where she studied at Elam School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of AJC Fisher, Lois White and John Weeks. At the age of nineteen she exhibited at the Auckland City Art Gallery in a group show that was organised through the Auckland Society of Arts, of which she was a junior member. Her paintings explore social and cultural identity through a predominance of figurative subjects.
